SAHARA REPORTERS
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, cautioning that Kyiv could face severe consequences if it withdraws from a rare earth minerals agreement with the U.S. Trump accused Zelenskyy of attempting to renegotiate the deal, which grants American access to Ukraine’s critical mineral resources.
The agreement, initially seen as a way to bolster U.S.-Ukraine ties, faced backlash over stringent terms requiring Kyiv to repay military aid through resource revenues. A revised version now stipulates that Ukraine will contribute half of future state mineral earnings to a joint investment fund. Meanwhile, Trump dismissed Zelenskyy’s NATO ambitions as unrealistic and highlighted the strained relations between Kyiv and Moscow.
