The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has stated that the country will not proceed with a ceasefire in Gaza until it receives a list detailing the captives who are set to be released by Hamas as part of a phased deal.
Netanyahu’s made this known in a statement released on Saturday via X handle.
The deal, which aims to bring an end to hostilities, hinges on the exchange of captives, and Netanyahu explained that Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire is dependent on the release of these individuals.
The Israeli government has made it clear that clarity on the identities of those being released is a necessary condition before any further steps can be taken toward peace.
“We will be unable to move forward with the framework until we receive the list of the hostages who will be released, as was agreed. Israel will not tolerate violations of the agreement. Hamas is solely responsible,” he added.
