18 dead as plane crashes in South Sudan

DAILY POST

No fewer than 18 people died on Wednesday when a plane carrying 21 passengers and crew members crashed in South Sudan’s Unity State.

Radio Miraya, which is run by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), reported that the plane had departed from an oilfield in the northern state when it crashed.

The report gave no further details, and Information Minister Michael Makuei did not immediately respond to the incident.

DAILY POST gathered that several air crashes have occurred in war-torn South Sudan in recent years.
