Bola Tinubu, president-elect, has called on Nigerians to be peaceful in their reaction to his victory at the 2023 general election.

Hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the presidential election, the former Lagos governor gave an acceptance speech lauding the electoral process.

Tinubu thanked voters, lauded INEC and appreciated his opponents, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and 14 other contestants.

The 2023 general election has received unpopular ratings from some Nigerians and the international community for its questionable transparency and incidences of violence and results manipulation, but Tinubu described this as immaterial.

In his speech titled ‘The Era of Renewed Hope’, Tinubu said, “The lapses that did occur were relatively few in number and were immaterial to the final outcome.”
