The suspension of Umrah, business, and family visit visas is aimed at preventing unregistered individuals from attempting to perform the pilgrimage
Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended Umrah, business, and family visit visas for citizens of 14 countries, including Nigeria, Egypt, and India, as part of preparations for the upcoming 2025 Hajj season. This decision is intended to prevent unregistered individuals from attempting to perform the pilgrimage.
The affected countries include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Yemen, and Morocco. Despite the suspension, Umrah visa holders will be allowed entry into the Kingdom until April 13, and restrictions are expected to remain in place until mid-June, after the pilgrimage concludes.
In 2024, over 1,200 pilgrims died due to extreme heat and overcrowding, with many lacking official Hajj permits. Authorities have warned that individuals found staying in the Kingdom illegally may face a five-year entry ban. “These measures are implemented to streamline travel procedures and enhance safety during Hajj,” officials stated.
