Peter Obi and his Obedient movement may have introduced ethnic bigotry into our politics during the 2023 presidential campaign, but that does not justify discriminating against our fellow Yoruba people.

Oba Omotooyosi Bayo Akinleye, the Olukosi of Ilukosi-Ijesa in Ogun State, has accused former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi of introducing ethnic bigotry into Nigerian politics during the 2023 presidential campaign.

The monarch expressed concern over discrimination within the Yoruba community based on political affiliations and maternal lineage, stating that such divisions are unwise and divisive.

He emphasized that no Yoruba person is “purer” than another, regardless of their mother’s background, and warned against promoting the concept of “tainted blood.
