”Please stop giving money to these people. The more money you give, the more they request.”

National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has urged Nigerians to stop paying ransom to terrorists and kidnappers, warning that it emboldens criminals. His remarks came as over 60 kidnap victims, including a deputy director and a relative of Bishop Kukah, were rescued in Kaduna after a month in captivity.

The NSA, while handing over 35 males and 29 females to the Defence Minister, stated, “Please stop giving money to these people. The more money you give, the more they request.” He credited the military’s sustained operations for the rescue, vowing to pursue the criminals. Defence Minister Mohammed Abubakar praised security agencies and urged public support, saying, “Information is needed to overcome these evil people.”

Ribadu emphasized that ransom payments worsen insecurity, adding, “We will go after them, and they will face consequences.” The victims were freed after coordinated raids in Southern Kaduna, marking another success in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
