Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, met with Nigeria’s top military officials in Abuja to discuss intensified operations against Boko Haram insurgents.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, convened separate closed-door meetings with Nigeria’s military leadership in Abuja to address the escalating Boko Haram insurgency. The discussions were held with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar.
The primary focus was on enhancing military operations in the Northeast, improving intelligence sharing, and formulating strategies to counter the recent uptick in insurgent activities.
Governor Zulum emphasized the necessity of strengthening civil-military relations and fostering collaboration among security agencies to effectively combat terrorism. He expressed optimism that with sustained efforts, the insurgency could be significantly reduced.
The governor also commended the military for their dedication and sacrifices in restoring peace to Borno State. These engagements underscore the commitment of both state and federal authorities to intensify efforts against Boko Haram and ensure the safety and security of citizens in the region.
