A notorious Nigerian bandit kingpin and over 100 of his fighters have been killed in a major military operation in north-western Nigeria, according to local authorities. The operation, which took place in the Tsafe area of Zamfara State, was part of ongoing efforts to combat armed groups responsible for widespread violence, kidnappings, and raids in the region.

Security sources confirmed that the raid targeted several camps used by the gang, resulting in heavy casualties. “The kingpin and more than 100 of his men were neutralised during the offensive,” an official said.

The operation is considered one of the most significant victories yet in the fight against banditry, which has plagued rural communities and displaced thousands across northern Nigeria.
