The Ogun State Government has announced the temporary closure of Olumo Rock Tourist Centre in Abeokuta starting April 14, 2025, for renovation and enhancement. The aim is to improve the site for visitors and preserve the cultural landmark.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sesan Fagbayi, explained that the renovation would improve the visitor experience and ensure safety standards. “Olumo Rock attracts over 70,000 visitors annually, and the time has come to give it the facelift it deserves,” Fagbayi stated.

This renovation is part of a larger initiative by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun to revamp cultural sites across Ogun. Future plans include establishing a Film and Entertainment Village in collaboration with Terra Kulture, along with restoring important landmarks such as the late Chief MKO Abiola’s residence and Fela Kuti’s family home.
