Abuja – The Presidency has responded to a recent U.S. court ruling ordering the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to release documents related to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, addressed the matter in a post on X (formerly Twitter) after journalists sought the government’s reaction.
“There is nothing new to be revealed,” Onanuga stated. “The report by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA report have been in the public space for more than 30 years. The reports did not indict the Nigerian leader.”
He added that Tinubu’s legal team is reviewing the ruling issued last Tuesday by a Washington, D.C. judge.
The documents in question have long been a subject of speculation, with critics alleging they contain damaging information about Tinubu’s past. However, the Presidency maintains that the reports, which date back to the 1990s, cleared the Nigerian leader of any wrongdoing.
