A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck near San Diego, California, on Monday morning, shaking large parts of Southern California and prompting brief disruptions. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred around 8:00 a.m. local time and was centered roughly 20 miles east of San Diego.

Residents reported feeling strong but brief shaking across several counties, including Los Angeles, Riverside, and Orange. No major damage or injuries were immediately reported, but officials noted that assessments were ongoing.

“It was a sharp jolt. My windows rattled, and the dog started barking,” a San Diego resident told local media.
