Infantino issues apology after failed World Cup power play
Gianni Infantino has apologised after FIFA abandoned its controversial proposal to sell a stake in the commercial rights of the FIFA World Cup following widespread criticism. According to The Mirror, the FIFA president admitted mistakes were made in handling the proposal after holding a crisis meeting with senior officials in Morocco.
The governing body acknowledged that member associations and stakeholders should have been consulted before the plan was unveiled. Despite the apology, Infantino insisted he would remain in office and continue leading FIFA as scrutiny over the failed initiative intensifies.
