Ex-DSS operative faces terror charges over alleged IPOB support
The Department of State Services has arraigned retired officer Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam before a Federal High Court in Abuja on four counts of terrorism-related offences, accusing him of joining the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and using social media to recruit support for the separatist group.
The Cable reports that prosecutors allege that between 2025 and 2026, Ezeakolam published messages across social media platforms designed to induce unsuspecting Nigerians into supporting IPOB — designated a terrorist organisation by the federal government in 2017.
The defendant, arraigned before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar on charges filed by Director of Public Prosecutions Rotimi Oyedepo, pleaded not guilty. Trial date is pending.
