Election day tension: Armed security forces in 10 Hilux vehicles surround Osun Assembly Speaker’s residence
Tension erupted in Osogbo on Osun governorship election day after armed security personnel in over 10 black Hilux vehicles surrounded the residence of House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, with the Imole Campaign Council alleging the premises were “effectively sealed off” and occupants prevented from leaving.
According to The Sun, TICC Spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi said the council could not independently confirm the deployment’s purpose but called on security agencies to immediately clarify their actions.
“Security deployments must inspire confidence and protect the integrity of the electoral process,” the statement read. Calls to the Commissioner of Police, DIG Election contact line and the Police Situation Room went unanswered. The Nigeria Police Force had not issued a statement at press time.
