Plaintiff kicks against Kano-to-Abuja transfer in Tinubu certificate case
Civil rights group Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy has rejected the transfer of its suit challenging President Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials from Kano to Abuja division of the Federal High Court, according to a Vanguard report.
CFRPA said the transfer, granted at the request of Tinubu’s lawyers, raises “a reasonable apprehension of bias” and could undermine judicial confidence. The group noted most of its witnesses reside in Kano, arguing relocation imposes unnecessary hardship and amounts to forum shopping.
It urged the Chief Judge to reverse the order, questioning why Tinubu would avoid defending the certificate forgery allegations in Kano.
