World’s oldest celebrates 117th birthday!
British woman Ethel Caterham, the world’s oldest person, celebrated her 117th birthday on Friday at her care home in Surrey, England, MSN reports.
Caterham, the first Briton ever to reach 117 according to Guinness World Records, said she had “a lovely day celebrating with my family and friends.”
Born in Hampshire in 1909, she is the last surviving person born during King Edward VII’s reign and survived COVID-19 at age 110.
She holds the distinction just behind Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who remains the record holder for longest verified human lifespan at 122 years.
