‘When politicians are talking, close your mouth’: Amaechi fires back at Sowore at NBA Conference
African Democratic Congress vice presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has angrily confronted AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore at the Nigerian Bar Association 2026 Annual General Conference, telling the activist-politician to “close your mouth when politicians are talking” after Sowore questioned his record as Rivers State Governor and minister.
As reported by Daily Post, Amaechi cited the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna rail lines as evidence of his ministerial achievements, challenging Sowore’s assessment of his governance record. “Is the Abuja-Kaduna rail working or not?” he asked, inviting Rivers State lawyers to take Sowore on a tour of his gubernatorial projects.
Sowore had made remarks during the panel session suggesting Amaechi failed in both his gubernatorial and ministerial roles — a characterisation the former minister rejected forcefully and publicly.
