‘A son might take down the family name’: Dangote says having male heir not his priority

Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has declared that having a male heir is “not my priority,” saying he is fully satisfied with his three daughters and warning that praying for a son could backfire.

“You can pray for God to give you a son, but he might be the one to take down the name of the family. Sometimes, when God doesn’t give you something, don’t push,” the 69-year-old billionaire said in an Arise News interview on Tuesday, as reported by Vanguard.

Dangote, now worth an estimated $51.3 billion according to Forbes, also confirmed that he has signed an agreement dedicating one-third of his estate to the Aliko Dangote Foundation after his death.

“I don’t think a son would have done better than the three daughters I have,” he added, naming Mariya, Halima and Fatima.
