James Rodriguez announces Colombia retirement after 15-year international career

James Rodriguez has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 35, bringing an end to a remarkable 15-year career with Colombia. According to CGTN, the midfielder made his senior debut in 2011 and became one of Colombia’s most celebrated players.

Rodriguez shot to global prominence at the 2014 World Cup, winning the Golden Boot after scoring six goals. He also featured at the 2018 and 2026 World Cups and captained Colombia to the 2024 Copa America final. He leaves international football with 131 caps, 31 goals and 43 assists.
