Shettima reveals only six Northern governors backed Tinubu in 2023
Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that only six of the 19 northern governors actually supported President Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition in the 2023 general elections, Daily Post reports.
Shettima made the disclosure at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin during the turbanning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate, describing the tension around Tinubu’s 2023 campaign as intense enough to test any politician’s resolve.
He noted that many obstacles were placed on Tinubu’s path but he remained undeterred.
Shettima urged Nigerian politicians not to treat politics as a “game of death,” recalling that Tinubu reconciled with the northern governors who opposed him after the election.
He further encouraged Kwara politicians to unite after the APC primaries, holding up Tinubu’s post-election reconciliation as the standard other leaders should follow.
