‘We’d make history’: Scottish brothers eye Uganda international allegiances

Teenage brothers Olly and Seb Fisher are on the verge of making history after being invited to train with Uganda’s youth national teams despite being raised in Scotland according to BBC SPORT. The Partick Thistle goalkeeper and striker are eligible through their mother Kate, who was born in Uganda while their grandparents lived there for several years.

The brothers were invited to Uganda’s Under-20 and Under-17 camps in August and have spent time training in Jinja, where they have received a warm welcome from their new teammates. Uganda Under-20 coach and former Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingston reportedly told the brothers they could become the first white players to represent the East African nation.

Both teenagers described the opportunity as surprising and an honour. Olly, 18, hopes to feature for Uganda’s Under-20s if they qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, while 16-year-old Seb has his sights on the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.
