Singapore’s President invites Tinubu for state visit, cites Nigeria’s economic reforms

Singapore’s President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, has invited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Singapore as both countries seek to strengthen bilateral relations, TVC News reports.

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, disclosed this in a statement, noting that Singapore’s envoy, Ambassador Burhan Gafoor, delivered the invitation letter during a visit to the Nigerian Mission House in New York.

Ibrahim said Tinubu would visit Singapore soon, adding that Nigeria’s economic reforms had drawn international attention, with Singapore keen to share experiences on multilateralism and development. He likened Tinubu’s reforms to those of Singapore’s late Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, saying the two leaders shared boldness in transforming their nations.

Ibrahim, recently elected chairman of two UN committees, pledged fairness and accountability in allocating resources under the Fifth Committee.
