Pentagon insiders brand Hegseth “worst defense secretary in history”

Multiple Pentagon insiders have gone public with allegations of chaos and discontent inside the Department of Defense under Secretary Pete Hegseth, with Army leaders reportedly branding him the “worst defense secretary in history.”

According to a report by the Daily Mail, six insiders, each with at least six years inside the Pentagon, described a man they consider the least qualified and most volatile defense chief in American history, accusing him of firing senior military leaders, blocking promotions, pursuing personal vendettas and running the agency like a “personal fiefdom.”

One Army officer said things had gone “from bad to worse,” calling the situation “unbelievably chaotic and demoralizing.”

The sources pointed to depleted weapons stockpiles, damaged US military sites across the Middle East, and low morale aboard vessels like the USS Abraham Lincoln as evidence of a widening gap between Hegseth’s public claims of success and conditions on the ground.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell rejected the allegations, insisting America’s military “remains the most powerful fighting force on earth.”
