‘We told you so’: Former CNN anchors Don Lemon, Jim Acosta mock network over Trump ban

Former CNN anchors Don Lemon and Jim Acosta said Monday that CNN’s attempts to appease President Donald Trump backfired, leading to the network’s White House ban.

According to Mediaite, Lemon said on his podcast, “I hate to tell them, but, we told you so!” Acosta agreed, saying the network had hired Scott Jennings as “basically a paid Trump spokesman” and still got banned.

Acosta argued appeasement “does not work” and praised the outlets for filing lawsuits, noting Trump’s approval rating had sunk to 29% in one poll.

Lemon said CNN management once wanted to move the network to be “more like Fox,” warning colleagues, “You’re next.”
