Wike: My children voted for Peter Obi in 2023

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has made a striking personal disclosure, revealing that all his children voted for Labour Party’s Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election — attributing their decision to widespread public concerns about the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket that he says no longer exists under the Tinubu administration.

According to Daily Post, Wike made the revelation during a Monday interview on TVC News, saying the situation had since changed dramatically, with his children now expressing regret over their 2023 choice.

“In 2023, there was a problem with the Muslim-Muslim ticket. There was this campaign about Christianity. All my children supported Peter Obi. But now, they are saying that they never knew this man, Peter Obi, was like this,” Wike said.

The minister, who has been one of the most prominent PDP figures backing President Tinubu’s administration, argued that Tinubu had successfully neutralised the same-faith ticket controversy that mobilised significant support for Obi in 2023.

“Tinubu has been able to kill the Muslim-Muslim ticket problem,” Wike said.

He also insisted that Obi — now the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general election — stood no chance of winning the presidency, without elaborating on the specific reasons for his assessment.
