Wolfsburg and Christian Eriksen part ways following second collapse

Christian Eriksen has left Wolfsburg by mutual agreement, three months after collapsing during Denmark’s friendly against Ukraine in June. According to The Athletic, the Bundesliga club confirmed the termination of the midfielder’s contract, which had been due to run until 2027.

Eriksen, 34, has not played since his implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) delivered a shock during the match, forcing him to leave the pitch and undergo medical tests. Wolfsburg sporting director Dieter Hecking praised Eriksen’s professionalism, while the Danish playmaker said he now wants to remain close to his family as he continues his recovery.
