NDLEA cracks Nigerian-Mexican meth ring, arraigns kingpins over Enugu lab

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has dismantled a Nigerian-Mexican drug syndicate operating a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Enugu State.

According to Nigerian Tribune, NDLEA operatives arrested Chukwu Obumneme Christopher, 45, and Chukwu Georginus Monday, 60, following months of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

The agency said the suspects allegedly operated the laboratory with Rodriguez Villanueva, a suspected Mexican cartel member based in Mexico City.

Both men were arraigned before the Federal High Court in Enugu on five counts relating to drug trafficking and possession of precursor chemicals.

Authorities recovered large quantities of chemicals and methamphetamine-production equipment during searches.

Justice Mabel Segun-Bello adjourned the trial until October 21, while three other suspects remain at large pending further investigation by NDLEA operatives.
