US unveils portal for reporting visa fraud

The United States Department of State has launched an online portal allowing the public to report suspected visa fraud or misuse, including anonymously.

According to Nairametrics, the portal, launched on September 23, allows users to submit information about suspected violations involving US visas, which authorities may use to support investigations or immigration reviews.

The State Department said reporters are not required to provide names or email addresses, although contact details could help officials seek additional information.

Reports may be shared with US or foreign law enforcement agencies where appropriate.

The initiative comes amid expanded visa enforcement by the Trump administration, including measures targeting birth tourism and fraudulent documents.

The US is expanding presence reviews for visa categories from October 1.
