Netanyahu accuses NYC Mayor Mamdani of spreading falsehoods in UN speech

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday sharply criticised New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in his address to the UN General Assembly, accusing him of spreading false claims about Israel, The New York Times reported.

Netanyahu addressed Mamdani directly over the mayor’s criticism of Israel’s military operations in Gaza and his earlier calls for Netanyahu’s arrest. He said Mamdani had tried to prevent his visit to New York and could not silence him.

Mamdani, who has called Netanyahu a war criminal, responded after the speech, accusing him of repeating lies about the Gaza conflict. The exchange came amid protests and a walkout by several delegations.
