Woman apologises to itel, admits using AI to fake Power Tank explosion

A Nigerian X user, Enori, has apologised after admitting she used artificial intelligence to create and circulate a fake image claiming an itel Power Tank had exploded.

According to PUNCH, Enori deleted the viral post and acknowledged that the purported explosion never occurred.

She apologised to itel, its customers and others who believed the image was genuine, saying she never expected the post to attract widespread attention.

The apology followed a warning from itel that it could pursue legal action against individuals using fabricated or manipulated content to spread false claims about its products.

The company had described the explosion image as fabricated and said it would protect its brand, customers and reputation through available legal remedies where necessary.
