ICE arrests Nigerian Iheanacho, flags her among ‘worst of worst’ for deportation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested Nigerian national Obiageriaku Jane Iheanacho in Maryland, placing her among immigrants targeted for deportation following criminal convictions.

According to Peoples Gazette, the Department of Homeland Security announced Iheanacho’s arrest on Friday, citing convictions for first-degree assault and vulnerable adult abuse.

Iheanacho, formerly a geriatric nursing assistant at a Baltimore healthcare facility, was convicted in 2023 and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Investigators said video footage showed her pushing 75-year-old Ellsworth Johnson-Bey to the ground, fracturing his left hip. He later died.

Homeland Security said Iheanacho was arrested alongside other immigrants it categorised as among the country’s “worst of the worst.”

The department said ICE would continue enforcing immigration laws and carrying out deportations.
