US reportedly gears up for possible military action against Cuba

The U.S. Army Reserve is reportedly assessing what resources could be made available to Southern Command over the next four months, NewsNation reports, with the request said to be connected to planning aimed at Cuba.

Planning documents reportedly show the Army Reserve working to determine if it can provide Southern Command with police forces, medical personnel and other support units over the next 90-120 days. It remains unclear how many troops would be needed, where they would be deployed, or what kind of operation is being considered.

Units reportedly requested include a combat sustainment support battalion, an engineer battalion, a medical brigade, and a forward resuscitative and surgical detachment for emergency trauma care.

The development comes as the Trump administration ramps up economic pressure on Cuba, with President Donald Trump saying he would “take Cuba” as he pushes for political reform on the island, which has been under a U.S. embargo since the 1960s.
