Robert Earnshaw settles Bale vs Giggs debate with clear verdict

Robert Earnshaw has named Gareth Bale ahead of Ryan Giggs in the long-running debate over Wales’ greatest footballer. Speaking to Wales Online, the former Wales striker said he was initially divided after playing alongside both players but eventually saw Bale reach another level.

Earnshaw described the former Real Madrid star as “world class” and “unstoppable” during his peak. Bale won 111 Wales caps, compared with Giggs’ 64, and helped his country reach the Euro 2016 semi-finals and qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Giggs enjoyed greater club success with Manchester United, winning 34 trophies, while Bale collected 20 during his career. Earnshaw nevertheless believes Bale stands above his former Wales teammate.
