Francesco Pio Esposito dedicated his goal to his grandmother after sharing a historic night with brother Sebastiano in Italy’s 4-1 Nations League victory over Türkiye. According to Football Italia, Pio scored Italy’s fourth goal after Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi and Michael Kayode had put the visitors in control.

The 21-year-old revealed he wanted to score for his grandmother, who is currently going through a difficult period. The match was also significant for the Esposito family as Sebastiano made his senior Italy debut, with the brothers becoming the first siblings since 1915 to start together for the national team. Pio now has six goals in 11 international appearances and will face France next.
