Wayne Rooney makes feelings clear on Manchester City title-stripping drama

Wayne Rooney has said he would not feel comfortable accepting a Premier League medal if Manchester City are stripped of their titles following their financial breaches according to The Athletic. Speaking on the Stick to United podcast, the Manchester United legend admitted he would accept City being stripped of the 2011-12 title but rejected the idea of United being handed the trophy after finishing runners-up.

Rooney insisted United “didn’t do enough” that season and famously surrendered a late advantage to City. The comments follow Rio Ferdinand’s suggestion that United could receive another medal. City have been found guilty of all but one of more than 100 charges, with sanctions still pending.
