Okpebholo: I started casting out demons at 17, fighting insecurity is not new

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has said tackling insecurity, particularly cultism, is not new to him, recalling that he began “casting out demons” at the age of 17.

According to The Cable, Okpebholo spoke on Sunday while worshipping at The VOTAGE Church of the WINLOS Centre in Benin City, according to his remarks during the service.

“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remember at the age of 17/18, I’ve also started casting out demons,” he said.

“So fighting insecurity, most especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It’s something that has been happening.”

The governor later confirmed his attendance in an X post, describing the service as “beautiful”.

“Today, I worshipped with the family of God at Living Faith Church, Sapele Road, and later at The Votage Church (Voice of This Age), Benin,” he wrote.

“It was a beautiful time of thanksgiving, fellowship and prayer. Together, we prayed for the continued peace and protection of Edo state, wisdom and strength for those entrusted with leadership, and God’s blessings upon our people and families.”
