Your current hardship not caused by my reforms, Tinubu tells Nigerians
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has defended his administration’s policies, stating that current economic hardships faced by Nigerian families are the result of problems accumulated over several decades, according to a report published by Tribune.
Speaking in his Independence Day address, Tinubu acknowledged widespread struggles with food, healthcare, and transportation, but maintained that these issues stem from generational weaknesses rather than recent reforms.
“Their circumstances did not begin with the reforms of the last three years. Their struggle is the accumulated consequence of decades of low productivity, inadequate infrastructure, insufficient opportunity and institutions that too often failed those who needed them most,” Tinubu stated.
He highlighted social safety nets including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, CREDICORP, and direct household support, noting that the country is transitioning into an era of prosperity supported by key macroeconomic gains
