Arsene Wenger told to stand against Infantino in 2027 FIFA election
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been urged to challenge Gianni Infantino in the 2027 FIFA presidential election amid growing criticism of the governing body’s leadership. According to talkSPORT, broadcaster Simon Jordan backed the idea after UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin called for change at FIFA.
Infantino has faced criticism over several issues surrounding the 2026 World Cup, including the scrapped FIFA Forward Enterprise plans. Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, previously said he had no involvement in the project and stressed his belief in an independent FIFA committed to transparency and integrity. FIFA’s next presidential election is scheduled for March 2027, with Infantino expected to seek another term.
