Man City accused of avoiding £12m tax payments over Mancini contract
Manchester City have been accused of potentially avoiding around £12 million in income tax and national insurance payments linked to former manager Roberto Mancini’s salary. According to The Telegraph, Tax Policy Associates claims City could face a tax bill and penalties of up to £24 million over payments made through a consultancy arrangement involving Abu Dhabi-based Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club.
The organisation alleges that £8.866 million ultimately paid to companies associated with Mancini represented remuneration for his work at City. It says the arrangement could warrant a criminal investigation, while stressing it is not accusing specific individuals of wrongdoing. City deny the allegations.
