Passengers abducted as gunmen attack two buses on Owerri-Onitsha expressway
Gunmen reportedly attacked two 18-seater buses on the Owerri-Onitsha expressway on Thursday, abducting several passengers travelling from Lagos to Anambra.
TheCable reported that the attackers intercepted the vehicles around 5:30am, robbed the occupants and allegedly forced them into the bush.
“The police came this morning, and the army has already entered the bush to see if they can rescue the victims. They kidnapped all the passengers in the two 18-seater buses,” an eyewitness said.
A woman also appealed for assistance, saying her daughter, Kehinde, a National Youth Service Corps member, was among those reportedly abducted while travelling to Anambra.
“Since past 6am, I have not been able to hear from my child, and we couldn’t get her exact location anymore. Please, federal government, help us. I only have the two of them,” she said.
The Imo State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the reported attack as of filing time.
