Police arrest suspect over N2.5m fraud, seize 25 ATM cards, 16 SIMs
Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a 45-year-old man, Abdulmoruf Abdulahi, over an alleged N2.5 million online fraud and recovered several electronic and banking items.
According to P.M. News, Ogun Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the investigation followed a complaint filed at Igbesa Police Division on April 4.
A deep-freezer dealer allegedly transferred N2.5 million to an account bearing Abdulahi’s name after responding to an online advertisement but reportedly never received the goods.
Police traced the suspect to Ojo, Lagos, where he was arrested on September 22.
A search allegedly uncovered 25 ATM cards, 25 mobile phones and 16 SIM cards.
Investigators are examining the recovered items to identify possible victims and determine whether Abdulahi is connected to similar offences.
Police said the suspect allegedly obtained utility bills and newly registered SIM cards through associates to open bank accounts.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
