WAEC appoints Suleiman Kum as new Nigeria head
The West African Examinations Council has officially appointed 56-year-old Suleiman Kum as Head of its Nigeria National Office.
According to The PUNCH, Kum succeeds Dr Amos Dangut, whose three-year tenure ended on October 1, 2026. Dangut has since become WAEC Registrar and Chief Executive Officer.
Before his appointment, Kum served as Deputy Registrar in the HNO’s office and Senior Deputy Registrar, Test Administration.
WAEC Nigeria’s Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, described Kum as “a seasoned test developer, administrator and executive” who joined the council on July 17, 1998, as Assistant Registrar II.
The council credited him with pioneering “Variable Data Printing and enhanced code-security features in security printing, replacing council-wide attendance systems with facial-recognition biometric devices and leading the seamless delivery of Achievement Tests using the Computer-Based Examination mode.”
Kum has also held several administrative, security and examination management positions across WAEC offices.
