JAMB moves to establish UTME centre in Canada
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced plans to establish a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination centre in Ottawa, Canada, from 2027.
According to Nairametrics, JAMB disclosed the proposal following Registrar Prof. Segun Aina’s visit to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa.
The centre is expected to serve eligible Nigerians in Canada and other parts of North America seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
“The centre will provide eligible Nigerians in Canada and other parts of North America with easier access to the UTME, particularly those seeking to pursue tertiary education in Nigeria,” JAMB said.
“The proposed centre will make it easier for Nigerians in the diaspora to sit for the UTME without travelling to Nigeria solely for the examination,” it added.
JAMB said the initiative would make UTME more accessible and strengthen connections between Nigerians abroad and the country’s education system.
