Robert De Niro calls Trump Epstein’s ‘protector-in-chief’
Hollywood actor Robert De Niro has accused US President Donald Trump of obstructing the release of remaining files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
According to The Telegraph, De Niro made the remarks at an event in New York on Monday while addressing Epstein’s victims and calling for the outstanding documents to be made public.
The actor described Trump as Epstein’s “protector-in-chief” and criticised what he called the failure to release the remaining files as “its own category of evil”.
Speaking to crowds at Washington Square Park, De Niro said: “One man is standing in the way of releasing the rest: Donald Trump. What is he hiding?”
The event featured a truck carrying millions of pages of Epstein-related documents already released by the US Justice Department, alongside material urging the administration to disclose the remaining files.
Trump and Epstein were friends before reportedly falling out in the early 2000s. Trump has repeatedly denied knowledge of Epstein’s crimes or involvement in his abuse.
