Toddler falls to death after dad places him on Cyprus hotel windowsill
A two-year-old boy fell nearly 40 feet to his death from a Cyprus hotel after his father placed him on a fourth-floor windowsill to show him a waterpark, a court has heard.
The Daily Record reported that Joshua Foster, 37, believed protective glass covered the opening at the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort in Chlorakas when the child fell on July 12.
Foster previously pleaded guilty to causing death through a reckless, rash or dangerous act.
His lawyer told Paphos District Court that Foster had been entertaining his son while the family prepared for dinner and did not realise the window was open.
“From that moment, the man’s life changed forever,” lawyer Alexandros Alexandrou said.
The toddler was rushed to Paphos General Hospital but was pronounced dead despite resuscitation efforts.
Foster, who fully cooperated with authorities, wept as details were presented in court.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on October 16.
