ICE detains Nigerian man over indecent exposure while canvassing for Pennsylvania Democrat
A Nigerian man, Chimaobim Adedayo Igbojekwe, has been arrested by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following an indecent exposure incident in Pennsylvania.
According to SaharaReporters, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Igbojekwe was arrested by local police on September 27 for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.
He subsequently pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct before ICE detained him on October 1 over immigration violations.
DHS said Igbojekwe was canvassing for Democratic congressional candidate Janelle Stelson when he allegedly exposed himself near a residential park where children were present.
ICE Deputy Director Charles Wall condemned the incident.
“It’s unbelievable that Janelle Stelson would employ an illegal alien to work on a Congressional campaign, let alone a pervert who exposed himself in public,” Wall said.
DHS said Igbojekwe entered the US legally in June 2017 but overstayed his authorisation in November 2019.
Authorities have not disclosed whether deportation proceedings have commenced.
