Ex-Prince Andrew gets $400,000 compensation for surrendering Windsor residence

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, has been awarded $400,000 (£302,000) in compensation after surrendering the lease on his longtime residence, Royal Lodge, near Windsor Castle.

According to the The Washington Times, the Crown Estate confirmed the payment on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The compensation follows King Charles III’s decision to strip his younger brother of his royal titles and remove him from the 30-room mansion earlier this year.

The decision came amid renewed controversy surrounding Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

His eviction followed growing public criticism and the release of US Department of Justice documents connected to investigations into Epstein.

Andrew vacated Royal Lodge earlier than anticipated in February and relocated to a residence on the king’s private Sandringham estate.

The Crown Estate, which manages royal lands for the benefit of taxpayers, confirmed the compensation following the surrender of his lease.

The development marks another chapter in Andrew’s departure from public royal life.
