Rep. Nancy Mace insists Jane Doe willingly took part in Cornell 7 ‘consensual gangbang’
US Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace has sparked controversy after claiming that a Cornell University student accusing seven fraternity members of rape participated willingly in the encounter.
According to the New York Post, Mace made the remarks Thursday on X, attracting more than 1.3 million views.
“IDK who needs to hear this, but a consensual gangbang is not a rape,” she wrote.
Her remarks followed the release of text messages allegedly exchanged between the accuser, identified as Jane Doe, and some of the men she accused.
In one message, the woman reportedly wrote, “Our body our choice,” while suggesting the men should not “feel any shame.”
However, her lawyer, Thomas Giuffra, disputed suggestions that the messages established consent.
He explained that his client was processing the alleged assault and “was going through, denial, shame and ultimately acceptance.”
The allegations have generated widespread debate over consent and sexual assault.
