Katie Zacharia named new White House press secretary
President Donald Trump has tapped conservative commentator Katie Zacharia as his new White House press secretary, filling a role left vacant following Karoline Leavitt’s departure, MS NOW reports. The White House confirmed the appointment Friday, while The New York Times first reported it.
Trump praised her on Truth Social following the announcement as a longtime supporter. “She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning. She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA!” Trump wrote. “I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our Country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the Media, the American People, and my Administration.”
Zacharia joined DHS in February as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs under then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, but left after several weeks. She was also senior communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group.
